Expression of Interest: Human Resources Steering Committee
Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw is seeking three (3) community members to serve on the Human Resources Steering Committee.
This Committee has been established following direction from the 2025 Annual General Meeting, to oversee an independent evaluation of Human Resources policies and processes.
This is an important opportunity to contribute to strengthening how the Nation supports its workforce now and into the future.
About the Committee
The Human Resources Steering Committee will provide oversight and guidance throughout the independent evaluation process.
The Committee will:
- Ensure the review is fair, transparent, and aligned with Skwxwú7mesh values
- Receive updates from the independent consultant
- Review findings and recommendations
- Provide recommendations to Council
The Committee does not conduct the evaluation and does not make operational or staffing decisions.
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking:
- Three (3) Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw members, including:
- Two (2) Elders
- One from the North Shore
- One from the Squamish Valley
- One (1) additional community member
We are looking for individuals who:
- Carry knowledge of Skwxwú7mesh values, teachings, and governance
- Are able to approach sensitive topics with fairness, discretion, and integrity
- Can review information thoughtfully and contribute to respectful discussions
- Are committed to supporting the Nation’s long-term workforce development
Experience in governance, human resources, leadership, or community work is an asset, but not required.
Time Commitment
- The Committee will meet at key milestones throughout the evaluation process (estimated 4–6 meetings total)
- Meetings may be held in person
- Members will be expected to review materials in advance of meetings
Honoraria
Community members appointed to the Committee will receive:
- $250 honoraria per meeting attended
Term
The Committee is time-limited and will conclude once:
- Recommendations have been provided to Council and the Annual General Meeting

Expressions of Interest will be accepted for a period of two (2) weeks from the date of posting (June 12, 2026).
Selection Process
The Corporate Services Committee will review all submissions. Recommendations will be brought forward to Council for final approval

On Friday, May 8, Sen̓áḵw’s first tower was blessed. Following the announcement of the occupancy permit, Sen̓áḵw hosted a beautiful blessing ceremony at the entrance of the tower.
Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw home retrofits showcase Nation’s Climate Legacy Strategy
Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People living on reserve can apply for free home retrofits. These upgrades can include new windows, ventilation, insulation, or a new heat pump.
