The Squamish Nation Public Safety Department (Ta na wa Téy̓wilhay̓lhem) is responsible for ensuring the safety and resiliency of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh people and communities through prevention, education, advocacy, intervention, support, and enforcement. Public Safety currently focuses on two core program areas: Emergency Planning & Response and Community Safety, which is home to our Community Safety Team (CST).
Ta na wa Téy̓wilhay̓lhem could be interpreted as ‘The Ones Protecting the Descendants’.

More Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People will be able to once again call Sen̓áḵw home when Tower Two opens its doors to residents this fall.
Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People United: The Significance of Amalgamation Day
On July 23rd, 1923, believing they were stronger together, 412 People represented by 16 headmen from about two dozen Sḵwx̱wú7mesh villages came together to form the modern-day Squamish Nation.
