Property Management & Taxation is responsible for managing the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh commercial properties and overseeing taxation administration. The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh commercial properties span from Vancouver (Kitsilano/Sen̓áḵw) to the North Shore, Squamish Valley, Gibsons (Chekwelp Reserve), and Whistler.
The team handles day-to-day property management, including permits, leases, and property taxation for both residential and commercial properties on the Nation’s reserves. This involves levying and collecting property taxes from tenants as applicable.
Additionally, the team manages business activities on reserves by issuing business licences, processing renewals, ensuring compliance with bylaws and standards, and collecting licence fees.

If you are a business owner or a commercial tenant operating at Park Royal (Park Royal South, Black Tower, Park Royal Towers, and The Village at Park Royal) then you are operating on Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) land. Park Royal is built on land leased from the Squamish Nation in the late 1950s under a landmark, 99-year lease agreement.
The Squamish Nation jurisdiction over this land includes authority over administration, review and approval of all permits for anyone operating at Park Royal. All commercial activity at Park Royal needs to be compliant with Squamish Nation governance and regulations.
We work in coordination with the District of West Vancouver to support the overall permitting process. Completed applications are reviewed by Squamish Nation Property Management before submission to the District of West Vancouver for the District’s submission and inspection requirements.
What does this mean?
Anyone conducting business or commercial activities (doing business with the primary intent of generating profit) at Park Royal will need to comply with Squamish Nation regulations. It includes businesses, financial operations, trades and contractors.
Business Licences and Permits are required for anyone operating within Squamish land boundaries (IR#5). If you are unsure, please reach out.
What do I need?
Retail businesses, financial institutions, services providers, contractors and trades people all require Squamish NationPermits and Licensing.
Prior to any work starting, including tenant improvements, by contractors and trades people, requires permits and licensing.
