The purpose of Ts’its’ixwnítway is to ensure that fair and equitable treatment and services are provided to all Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Members, including outreach, estates planning, funerals, assistance with the justice and courts system, and emergency utility/food/housing supports.
In addition, Ts’its’ixwnítway oversees several policies and laws – such as the Membership Code and the Election & Referendum Law – that contribute to equity for our Nation and our people.
Ts’its’ixwnítway means to take care of one another or to be nice to each other. It comes from the word ts’ixwen (to pity someone or help someone out of trouble). This could be expressed as having compassion for each other.
