As part of the Rights and Title Department, the Archaeology team works alongside Natural Resources, Referrals and Environment teams to evaluate developments within our territory. The team assesses risks to Squamish ancestral heritage sites and acts as a regulator for any archaeological work.
A new generation of Squamish People are being trained as archaeology professionals. Squamish ancestral heritage is being protected and managed by Squamish People, as it has been since time immemorial.

Our Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Stélmexw came home to Sen̓áḵw
On Friday, May 8, Sen̓áḵw’s first tower was blessed. Following the announcement of the occupancy permit, Sen̓áḵw hosted a beautiful blessing ceremony at the entrance of the tower.
Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw home retrofits showcase Nation’s Climate Legacy Strategy
Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People living on reserve can apply for free home retrofits. These upgrades can include new windows, ventilation, insulation, or a new heat pump.
