Uniting all wellness services under one roof
Some exciting new changes are coming to the People’s Services division. Teams from Yúustway (Health) and Ayás Mén̓men (Child and Family Services) are being reorganized to better serve Community, resulting in Háhalhi7iwan (Wellness) Department. Háhalhi7iwan means becoming well in mind, body and spirit.
Bringing all wellness services together will improve access and provide stronger care for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People — rooted in Sḵwx̱wú7mesh values and honouring our traditions and ways of being as a community.
These services now fall under Háhalhi7iwan: counselling and therapy, land-based healing, addictions and mental health support, peer support and mobile outreach work.
This change involves no additional costs or staff and it will significantly reduce the duplication of services and support.
This is not about creating something new but about working together differently.
