Paháyikwup (Language Commission) is charged with providing guidance on Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Sníchim (Squamish Language), including certifying teachers, determining speaker proficiency levels, and creating a strategic plan for language revitalization.

Squamish Nation Appoints Division Executive Directors

Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw is on an exciting journey – rekindling our language and cultural practices, asserting our rights and title, increasing own-source revenues, and expanding the range of services provided to Members. A new organizational structure came into effect in April 2023 as the Nation continues to build capacity as a modern Indigenous government to support this vision.

Squamish Nation to Engage in Land Planning Process

The Squamish Nation Council today announced it will start the development of community capital plans and land use strategies for several Squamish Nation-owned lands. The Council has placed a moratorium on entertaining third-party proposals for developing its lands for one year as part of this process.
