The nomination process for candidates will begin on Tuesday, June 4, 2025. The Electoral Commission encourages Members from across Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw to run.

Changes passed from the May 31, 2025, referendum will be implemented and effective for the Squamish Nation General Election on September 28, 2025. View the Election and Referendum Law vote results.
Important Dates
Important dates for potential candidates (General Election 2025):
June 4
– The Nomination Eligibility Form is available, and Members announce their intention to run.
– All Referendum changes to our Election and Referendum Law are confirmed by the Electoral Commission.
June 9
The full Candidates’ Nomination Package and Guide is available.
July 2
The Nomination Eligibility Form is due by 4:30 pm.
July 15
The Full Nomination Package is due by 4:30 pm.
July 30
– The list of confirmed candidates is announced by the Electoral Commission.
– Campaigning can begin.
September 28
General Election Day (voting day)
Any Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) Member 18+ can run for Chairperson, Council or Band Manager.
The Candidates’ Nomination Package shows your base of support, background, skills, and why you would like to represent community in our governance.
Your vote, participation and representation will shape how Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw grows in the coming years. Your vote contributes to determining our Chairperson, Council and Band Manager that represents our community.

A voters list will be posted at least 60 days before the general voting day at the Squamish Nation administrative office, Chief Joe Mathias Centre, Totem Hall and on this webpage.

Completed forms are due Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 4:30 pm. The Nomination Eligibility Form can be submitted at the Member Services office or Totem Hall.
You must print this form. Please ensure that you print clearly and use a pen.
This form registers your intention to run in the General Election for Chairperson, Council or Band Manager.
Hardcopies of the form can be picked up at the Member Services office and Totem Hall.
Members can start completing the Nomination Package to register your intention to run for Chairperson, Council or Band Manager. The Nomination Package shows your base of support, background, skills, and why you would like to represent our community.
Deadlines:
Nomination Eligibility Form is due on July 2 at 4:30 pm.
Full Nomination Package is due on July 15 at 4:30 pm.
The Nomination Eligibility Form and Nomination Package can be submitted at the Member Services office or Totem Hall.

Print all of the above forms. Hardcopies of the forms can be picked up at the Member Services office and Totem Hall.
For EC-5 and EC-6 Forms (Nominee Autobiography and Nominee Election Statement), you can choose to:
- handwrite it with pen (please make it legible) or
- type it in a Word document or another online program (include your full name and which form it should be filed with).

Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), as part of the MST Partnership (Musqueam Indian Band, Squamish Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nation) and Canada Lands Company (MST-CLC) is thrilled to share that late today, Vancouver City Council unanimously approved the ʔəy̓alməxʷ/Iy̓álmexw/Jericho Lands Official Development Plan.
