Health & Wellness
Nexwnínlhewá7nem Ch’áwch’aw hén̓xwilhem (People Services on Wheels) is a mobile outreach unit providing culturally grounded wellness, mental health, and community supports to Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People across the North Shore
and Squamish Valley.
People Services on Wheels
The Nexwnínlhewá7nem Ch’áwch’aw hén̓xwilhem (People Services on Wheels) van is in community, providing a mobile, staffed unit with medical equipment that delivers support across the North Shore and Squamish Valley, including reserve communities in North Vancouver, West Vancouver, and local gathering spaces. People Services is committed to responding to community needs in ways guided by culture, connection, and community direction, strengthening a more responsive system of care that reflects the values of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People.
The People Services on Wheels vehicle developed from a strong partnership between Yuustway Health & Wellness, Membership Services, Ayás Mén̓men Child & Family Services, and the Public Safety Department’s Community Safety Team — all coming together with a shared commitment to Community well-being.
The outreach initative is grounded in belief that healing must be holistic – intergrading mental, emotional, spiritual, and cultural aspects of health – and must be led and informed by Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People.
The Nexwnínlhewá7nem Ch’áwch’aw hén̓xwilhem (People Services on Wheels) is operating 5 days a week and will be offering the following to Community:
- Support and connection for all Squamish People
- Comfort items (such as water, food, first aid etc)
- Harm reduction supports including drug checking and overdose prevention
