The Home & Community Care team aids clients with activities of daily living, encompassing personal care tasks and homemaking. Additionally, they ensure that advanced medical and nursing care is accessible through hospitals and long-term care facilities when needed.
The team’s objective is to enhance maximum independence and improve the quality of life by offering services that supplement and complement, without substituting for, the care provided by families, friends, and the community. This can include:
- Assessing and monitoring health status
- Bathing
- Foot care
- Grooming
- Nutrition and grocery shopping
- Light homemaking
- Medical appointments

The United Way funds the Better at Home Program for the Nation, which provides support to Elders aged 65 and older. This program aids Elders in carrying out basic day-to-day tasks, enabling them to preserve their independence at home and remain connected with their community. Better At Home services are not of a medical nature and instead include light housekeeping, grocery shopping, light yard work, friendly visits, and transportation. What sets this program apart is its distinctive “seniors planning for seniors” approach, where Elders actively participate in designing, running, and evaluating the program.
