Elder Care, Housing, and Elder Centres
Contact the Project Team
The Strategic Plan prioritizes planning for Elders’ homes, wellness supports, and places where they can gather to be together, be close to community, and practice Sḵwx̱wú7mesh traditions and culture – places built for and with Elders, including them throughout the process and taking their needs into consideration.
Together with the Xwí7ski! (Let’s Go!) Elders Project Action Team (EPAT), Elder Advisory Committee members, and provincial and federal partners, we will build on what we’ve learned to date and explore a diversity of housing and care options in the current context, including Long Term Care and Assisted Living Homes for Squamish Elders. Plans for palliative care and new/expanded Elder Centre initiatives in the Squamish Valley and North Shore will also be developed to align with the Nation’s Land Development Strategies.
Project Timeline: Needs Assessments and Business Plans for Long Term Care, Assisted Living, Palliative Care and Elder Centres are expected to be completed by Spring 2024.
