A full campfire ban is in place across Squamish Nation Lands and Territory due to hot, dry conditions leading to wildfire risks. The wildfire danger rating is now labelled “High.”
The District of Squamish has issued a campfire and open-air burning ban and the BC Wildfire Service has prohibited open-fires across the coastal region, including Sea-to-Sky and the North Shore.
Prohibited:
- All campfires and open fires
- Fireworks, sky lanterns, burn barrels, tiki torches
- Wood-burning saunas and hot tubs
Allowed: CSA-approved gas or propane cooking devices with a flame under 15 cm.
We ask everyone to help keep our Community and Lands safe by not lighting campfires and using extra caution outdoors at this time.
Report any fires by calling 9-1-1 or *5555 on a cellphone.
