The Squamish Nation is actively monitoring two wildfires in the Upper Squamish Valley. The Mount Willson wildfire is currently 415 hectares and the Simms Creek wildfire near Sims Creek River is just under 240 hectares.

Sen̓áḵw development partnership welcomes 50% ownership stake by Canadian pension fund, OPTrust

The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) and its economic development group, Nch’ḵay̓ Development Corporation (Nch’ḵaý), are pleased to announce that they have entered into a restructured partnership to build the new community at the entrance to what is now called False Creek. OPTrust, one of Canada’s largest pension funds, has increased its ownership stake to 50%, acquiring Westbank’s interest in Phases One and Two of the project.
