Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), as part of the MST Partnership (Musqueam Indian Band, Squamish Nation and Tsleil-Waututh Nation) and Canada Lands Company (MST-CLC) is thrilled to share that late today, Vancouver City Council unanimously approved the ʔəy҆alməxʷ/Iy҆álmexw/Jericho Lands Official Development Plan.
The approval of the Official Development Plan is an important step toward developing the 90-acre site for the benefit of MST Nations’ Members while providing regional benefits in housing and affordability, inclusivity, employment and training opportunities. It also marks an important return of Indigenous culture to the site.
ʔəy҆alməxʷ/Iy҆álmexw/Jericho Lands is going through a City of Vancouver-led planning process that requires approval from Vancouver City Council. We acknowledge the collaborative approach with the City, and Vancouver’s recognition of the importance of this project being an Indigenous-led development.
More information on the decision is provided in this City of Vancouver news release.
