Hiy̓ám̓ Housing’s new Facebook page connects Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw Community to affordable housing

Hiy̓ám̓ Housing’s recently launched Facebook page is one more avenue connecting the Squamish Community with the not-for-profit housing organization.

Hiy̓ám̓ Housing was created in 2019 by Nexwsxwníw̓ntm ta Úxwumixw (Council) and the Hiy̓ám̓ ta Swx̱wú7mesh Housing Society means “The Squamish Are Coming Home.” Hiy̓ám̓ Housing is mandated to lead the development and management of affordable housing for all Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Members.

The new Facebook page provides updates from Hiy̓ám̓ Housing and answers to questions about its programs, such as the Hiy̓ám̓ Home Loan Program (HHLP) and the Squamish Nation Assistance with Rent Program (SNARP).

The Housing Impact Report was recently posted on their Facebook page, and the social channel also lists Hiy̓ám̓ Housing job postings.

Hiy̓ám̓ Housing’s main goal is to ensure every Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Member has a home within a generation. So far, more than 500 people have been housed, and there’s been a 45 per cent increase in the Nation’s housing supply.

Currently, Hiy̓ám̓ Housing manages 56 affordable housing units and is leading the development of 424 new affordable rental homes in Vancouver, the North Shore, and the Squamish Valley.
