Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) is pleased to welcome Michelle Bryant-Gravelle as the new Executive Director of X̱etx̱ítayus Ch’áwch’aw (Corporate Services), effective today January 26, 2026 

Michelle Bryant-Gravelle, ancestral name Bilha’am Nelx, is a proud Ts’msyen woman from the Gitwilgyoots (People of the Kelp) Tribe of the Nine Allied Tribes of Lax Kw’alaams (North Coast of BC) and Gispudwada (Killer Whale) Clan.  

Michelle is an accomplished leader with extensive experience guiding complex organizations in government, industry and education. Her strengths include governance, strategic planning, change management, and building systems that advance Indigenous priorities. Most recently, Michelle served as the City of Vancouver’s first Senior Director of Indigenous Relations. She established the City’s inaugural Indigenous Relations department and led a landmark, co-developed approach to implementing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) in partnership with Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nation, Musqueam Indian Band, and Tsleil-Waututh Nation.

Previously, Michelle spent more than a decade in senior leadership at Trigon Terminals, overseeing corporate affairs, Indigenous and stakeholder engagement and environmental processes. Michelle’s academic credentials — including a Master of Education in Multidisciplinary Leadership, a Certificate in Advanced Management, and a Diploma in Solution-Focused Coaching — reflect her dedication to growth and innovation.

Michelle will provide executive leadership for Chén̓chenstway (Human Resources), Estx̱wáy̓usem (Finance), Nexwsp’áyaḵen ta Smets’álḵen Kw’áxwa7 (IT & IS), and Nexwsyétsem (Communications & Engagement) starting January 2026.
