Nexwsxwníw̓ntm ta Úxwumixw is the elected decision-making body that sets the overall direction of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), both internally and externally. It receives a mandate to carry out the political business of the Nation from our Community.

On July 23rd, 1923, believing they were stronger together, 412 People represented by 16 headmen from about two dozen Sḵwx̱wú7mesh villages came together to form the modern-day Squamish Nation.
