Squamish Valley Community Plan

We are taking the first steps to build a Squamish Valley Community Plan to advance growth and sustainability in the Squamish Valley.

Squamish Valley Community Plan

There are many initiatives planned and underway in the Valley. A community plan would bring together and manage those initiatives and provide a vision for the Valley for the next 10 years. Building a community plan – Ta Skwekwiy̓íntsuts ta Sx̱wéx̱wel –allows us to direct the growth and sustainability of the Squamish Valley.

WHERE ARE WE AT: The community plan project began in 2024 introducing Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Valley People to the project. We held seven family meetings, two staff sessions and a youth workshop as a first round of outreach to community.

WHAT’S NEW: The Squamish Valley Community Plan has established a 12-person Community Advisory Group. The diverse group includes 10 community members from across the Valley as well as one Council Rep and a Chair. They met for the first time in April and will be meeting regularly to provide advice and guidance as the Squamish Valley Community Plan develops.

WHEN WILL WE HAVE A PLAN?
Ta Skwekwiy̓íntsuts ta Sx̱wéx̱wel is a made-in-Squamish-Valley plan honouring the extensive past work, planning, and feedback on Valley priorities.

A framework, including a vision of the valley in 10 years, is expected to be complete this fall to share with community, before going to council by year’s end. This framework document will inform Council in their development of a strategic plan.
