Heather Lands Update
The review process for the rezoning application for the Heather Lands is now underway. The partnership of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh Nations and Aquilini Development, known as MSTA, wants to increase the number of housing units from 2,612 to 4,250.

Ta na wa Téy wilhay̓lhem (Public Safety) is reminding Members fireworks are not permitted on any Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw land. Nexwsxwníw̓ntm ta Úxwumixw (Council) passed the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw Fireworks Ban Bylaw in September 2024 after listening to concerns from the Nation about safety, environmental impacts, and the wellbeing of pets and wildlife.

Squamish Nation elects 15 councillors and new chairperson: Record-setting voter turnout in general election
North Vancouver, B.C., September 29, 2025 – Squamish People elected 15 councillors, one chairperson and one band manager on Sunday, Sept. 28 to hold office for the next four years. The election doubles the size of the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) Council, previously set at seven councillors and one chairperson.
General Election: Online Voting Starts Today
Members can start voting online today for the 2025 Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) General Election. The in-person voting day is September 28, 2025.
Squamish Healthy Hub set to open early 2026
Construction of the Ha7lh sḵwalwnawtxw (Healthy Hub) on the Siy̓ích’em reserve has progressed quickly over the summer and will soon be ready to serve the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation).
Nch’ḵay̓ Acquires International Plaza on X̱wemelch’stn, Returning Property to Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Ownership
In a significant agreement, Nch’ḵay̓ has acquired International Plaza on Marine Drive in North Vancouver, bringing this on-reserve residential and commercial building under Squamish Nation ownership and Nch’ḵay̓’s stewardship.
Upper Squamish Valley Wildfire Notice
The Squamish Nation is actively monitoring two wildfires in the Upper Squamish Valley. The Mount Willson wildfire is currently 415 hectares and the Simms Creek wildfire near Sims Creek River is just under 240 hectares.
