Wa Ns7eyx̱ ta Temíxw, the Nation’s land department dedicated to growing our reserve lands, maintaining the Housing List, and supporting estate and lot transfers, is hosting a free five-part workshop series.
These sessions are our way of sharing knowledge and building capacity within the community on topics that directly affect our lands, housing, and rights as Nation members. Whether you’ve got questions or just want to learn more, these workshops are for you.
All sessions run 5–7 pm at the Member Services Office (Unit 6 – 380 Welch Street). Drop in for one or come to all sessions, it’s up to you. The workshops are open to all community members.
Sessions offered are:
June 24 — Housing list 101
This session focuses on how the Housing List works, how it’s maintained, and what it means for you and your family. This session will walk through the basics, giving community members a clear, plain-language understanding of the process. Add this event to your calendar.
July 8 — What is a designation vote?
This session focuses on what a designation vote is. A designation vote is one of the most significant decisions a Nation can make about its land, and understanding the process is key to having an informed voice in it. This session will break it all down in plain language so community members know exactly what it means and how it works. Add this event to your calendar.
July 15 — Land transactions
This session focuses on land transactions. From lot transfers to estate matters, land transactions on reserve can feel complicated, but they don’t have to be. This session will walk you through how the process works and what the Squamish Nation’s policies mean for you and your family. Add this event to your calendar.
July 22 — Matrimonial real property
This session focuses on matrimonial real property. This is an important topic. Matrimonial real property on reserve is a topic that affects many families and knowing your rights can make a real difference. This session will cover what protections are in place and how property is handled in situations like separation or relationship breakdown, so you’re never left in the dark. Add this event to your calendar.
July 29 — Additions to reserve
This session focuses on additions to reserves. Growing our land base is one of the most important things we can do for the future of the Squamish Nation — and Additions to Reserve (ATR) is how that happens. Come learn about the process, how it connects to the Nation’s Strategic Plan, and what it means for our community’s long-term access to land and resources. Add this event to your calendar.
