What is Voyent Alert?
Voyent Alert! is a notification service that will be used to communicate important information about critical events that may affect our community members such as fire, floods, and extreme weather. Alerts can be received via the Voyent Alert! app, email, text message or phone call.
Members will only receive alerts if it will affect them directly (where they live) or a second location you are following. For example, if there is a flood in a city, only those who live in that city will be notified. You will receive an alert if you added a second location such as your “mom’s home” or “kid’s school”, if it’s affected by an incident.
The alert will let you know what the situation is, actions to take, and provide a link for additional information (eg. distance and direction from an incident and preferred evacuation routes may be provided). We will alert Members when a situation begins, provide updates as needed, and confirm when/if the issue has been resolved.
Members and community members who live in Squamish, North Vancouver, or West Vancouver.
You will also have the option to add a second location in Squamish, West Vancouver, or North Vancouver. If a second location is added then you will receive alerts for this location, such as your parent’s house or child’s school.
You can assist family members to register online for those who only have access to landlines to receive phone call alerts.
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide alerts for other areas, as the Nation does not receive communications from all districts across Greater Vancouver and the wider community.
Alerts will only be sent to individuals who have registered. We advise community members to sign up for Voyent Alert! to be notified of urgent matters in a timely manner.
Members who are not signed up may receive notifications one of the following ways, depending on the situation: Facebook, email to Members, newsletter, and/or mail out.
