The Squamish Valley community will gather to honor the Squamish Valley Peacekeepers, a volunteer-led organization that has dedicated many years of service to the safety and wellbeing of Squamish People.
This gathering will mark the beginning of a meaningful “Passing the Torch” from the Peacekeepers to the Squamish Nation Public Safety team, who now carry this important responsibility forward in service to the community.
Over the years, the Peacekeepers have been recognized for their important contributions to public safety, restorative justice, and community care. This event is an opportunity to recognize their legacy, honour their years of dedication, and support the next generation of community safety leadership.
The event will include a prayer and Squamish song, gifting of the Peacekeepers’ vests, opportunities for Peacekeepers to share reflections, and words from Elders, Squamish Nation Council Members, and community partners. Following the formal portion of the gathering, guests will share a meal together.
Friday June 12 | 2 pm – 6 pm | Totem Hall Gymnasium
