Squamish Healthy Hub set to open early 2026

Construction of the Ha7lh swalwnawtxw (Healthy Hub) on the Siy̓ích’em reserve has progressed quickly over the summer and will soon be ready to serve the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation).

The Hub will be a temporary health facility made up of modular buildings and will be co-managed by Yúustway Health and Wellness and Ayás Mén̓men Child and Family Services. Construction for this project began back in June of 2024, with Ta na wa Shéway I7x̱w ta Úxwumixw (Planning & Capital Projects) crews preparing the lot. The final five modular sections will be installed this month, completing the Healthy Hub building.

The Hub is on track for a soft opening in early 2026 and is expected to be operational with full services by Spring. A wide range of services will be on offer including primary care consultations with family practitioners and registered nurses. Clients will also get Sḵwx̱wú7mesh cultural support at the Hub, through Knowledge Keepers, Elders in Residence, and patient advocates.

Public Health Nurses will also be on site alongside clinical pharmacists, and clinicians who will provide mental health support and access to wellness coordinators.

Healthy Hub will Reduce Barriers to Care for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People

The Healthy Hub will fill a vital role when it opens next year, as there is currently no primary care services offered on-reserve in Squamish Valley. Members have had to travel to the District of Squamish or to the North Shore YHW Primary Care Clinic — barriers preventing some Squamish People from accessing needed medical care.
