Nch’ḵay̓ is sharing some good news today regarding International Plaza. In a significant agreement, Nch’ḵay̓ has acquired International Plaza on Marine Drive in North Vancouver, bringing this on-reserve residential and commercial building under Squamish Nation ownership and Nch’ḵay̓’s stewardship.
Located in the Squamish village of X̱wemelch’stn, International Plaza includes 471 rental homes and more than 65,000 square feet of commercial space. Built in 1975, the property is returning to Nation ownership for the first time since its development.
International Plaza is now a Sḵwx̱wú7mesh-owned building on Sḵwx̱wú7mesh land, and this is an important step toward housing security – everyone safely and securely housed – as envisioned in our Úxwumixw 2050: Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Generational Plan.
