Help improve Indigenous health care in BC by taking a survey

BC’s Ministry of Health developed an Indigenous Patient Survey to “better understand the distinct needs, interests, priorities, and concerns of diverse First Nations, Métis, and Inuit patients and communities when it comes to healing and learning from health care-related harm.

The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw’s (Squamish Nation’s) Yúustway (Health & Wellness) Department wants as many Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People as possible to fill out the survey. By doing so, the Nation will help “identify what information, supports, and opportunities for involvement patients and communities need after a harmful health care experience, including Indigenous-specific racism and discrimination.

Your survey responses will help “inform policy and processes that shape the way health care organizations address patient concerns, improve care quality, and prevent future harm.”

The survey will be open until July 24th, 2026, and takes about 20 minutes to complete. You may skip any questions you do not want to answer, and you can stop the survey at any time without providing a reason.

If you’d like to share a written submission instead, please reach out to the Patient Care Quality team at PatientCareQuality@gov.bc.ca.
