Come to the Lower Stá7mes Community Celebration and Open House at Totem Hall on June 24. Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) is bringing its People together to honour and celebrate Stá7mes Village; its history, cultural importance, resilience, and future.

Dr. Rudy Reimer will share archeological and cultural findings, recognize the continued connection of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People to the village, lands, and waters, and celebrate the work underway to connect and protect this place for future generations.

The event will also provide a high-level update on planning for the Lower Stá7mes area, including how future work is intended to protect lands and waters, bring new benefits to Sḵwx̱wú7mesh People, and centre wellbeing before, during, and after development occurs.

The event will include:

  • An opening celebration.
  • A short presentation celebrating Stá7mes history, archeological and cultural findings, and the future vision for the area – including for the Squamish Valley Longhouse and waterfront, Elders Village, and Health & Wellbeing.
  • Time for Community members to visit stations, ask questions, and speak with Councillors, Elders, staff, and consultants.
