Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw Constitution Project Update

Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw Constitution Project Update

During the past two years, we’ve collected input from our community– at events, family dinners, and through online surveys — about what should be in our Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw Constitution. The initial phase of gathering ideas from Squamish People about our Constitution is complete.

The Constitution Working Group is now developing the first draft of our Constitution. Our Constitution will integrate Squamish People’s ideas, priorities, and traditional knowledge.

The first draft of “Our way of being a Nation” will be shared with community in the spring of 2026. We will be asking community members at that time to provide feedback on the draft, including what parts you like, what needs more work, and what parts you think may have been forgotten.
