External Call for Artists
The Vancouver Park Board’s Department of Arts, Reconciliation and Culture seeks to commission three artists, one from xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ, to each create an original design for the banners in sθəqəlxenəm ts’exwts’áxwi7 Rainbow Park at Smithe and Richards.
This is the second call for artists’ designs in the park, to continue to highlight an exploration of the theme RAINBOW. The design will be used for skyframe banners for a period of 2 years.
sθəqəlxenəm ts’exwts’áxwi7 Rainbow Park in the heart of downtown focuses on xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ visibility on the land, through language and public art.
- Budget: $6,000 for artist fee
- Submission deadline (extended for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh artists only): December 8, 2025
This call asks for one artist or artist team from Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw to produce original art, using Sḵwx̱wú7mesh design form, and be creatively involved in shaping the VANCOUVER Sign project.
The overall intent is to create an equal opportunity for representation and expression from xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw, and səlilwətaɬ on the VANCOUVER Sign. To this end, there will be three separate artist calls to select one artist or artist team from each Nation. Each artist or artist team will work closely with the VANCOUVER Sign project team – the project design team and City staff – on technical specifications and to meet the project timeline.
- Budget: $25,000 per artist or artist team

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking an artist from Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw to design digital artwork to be printed and displayed at the Squamish General Hospital, including but not limited to the five locations indicated below, in and around the maternity ward.
- Budget: $12,000 (including wall mural designs, reproduction rights)
- Submission deadline: December 15, 2025 (extended)
The North Shore Mountain Bike Association (NSMBA) invites Indigenous artists from the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) to submit proposals for a permanent public artwork to be installed along the new Cypress East Climb Trail located between the second and fourth switchbacks of Cypress Bowl Road in West Vancouver.
- Budget: $10,000 (including artist fees, materials and fabrication, transport and delivery, and installation)
- Submission deadline: December 1, 2025
- Installation: Spring 2026
Providence Health Care is inviting Expressions of Interest from Squamish and Tsleil Waututh artists or artist teams for an interior art opportunity within the All Nations Sacred Space (ANSS) at the new St. Vincent’s Heather long-term care home.
