Sen̓áḵw continues to grow stronger

The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw is proud to share an important update in the journey to rebuild our ancestral village of Sen̓áḵw. As part of a restructured partnership, OPTrust—one of Canada’s largest pension fund investors—has acquired Westbank’s stake in Phases One and Two of the project. This means that OPTrust and the Squamish Nation now share equal ownership in these phases, bringing renewed stability and strength to the development. At the same time, the Nation has secured 100 per cent ownership of Phases Three and Four—an unprecedented step toward self-sufficiency and the long-term prosperity envisioned in our Generational Plan.

For the Squamish People, this moment is about much more than buildings. It is about returning to the land from which our ancestors were forcibly removed over a century ago, making our presence felt once again in the heart of our territory. It is about creating opportunities for our members through jobs, training, and cultural expression, while ensuring that our language, stories, and identity are visible in every part of this community for generations to come.

As we approach completion of Phase One, Sen̓áḵw will deliver:

· More than 1,400 new rental homes across three towers that will welcome residents in 2026

· Retail spaces and community amenities

· A three-storey pavilion with gym, pool, wellness centre and social lounge

· Public spaces that highlight Squamish culture and art

· Green spaces and car sharing that align with sustainable community living

· A new transit hub to serve residents and the community
