Dryden Creek Wildfire Officially Out

Dryden Creek Wildfire Officially Out

The Dryden Creek Wildfire is officially out, and the state of local emergency in the Squamish area has ended. First discovered on June 9 on the hillside at the end of Tantalus Road, and likely human caused, the blaze was declared extinguished by the BC Wildfire Service July 17. At its largest, the wildfire was burning nearly 60 hectares. With the fire officially out, all evacuation orders are rescinded, and all trails in the Dryden Creek Wildfire area are once again open to the public.

The District of Squamish is now in a Local Recovery Period, which means authorities have certain emergency powers to support recovery. The period will last for up to 90 days and is subject to extension. The BC Wildfire Service has strictly prohibited campfires on all public and private lands within the District of Squamish Boundaries and surrounding lands.

Report any wildfires by calling 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 on your cell, or by using the Report function in the BC Wildfire mobile app.
