Transit is set to improve in the Squamish Valley. In May, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) gathered community feedback through a transit survey – asking questions about a possible fixed stop in St’á7mes, expanding service to Wiwḵ’m and Ch’iyáḵmesh, integrating Squamish Nation art and language and overall transit experiences.
Based on survey results, here are some of the top key findings:
- More accessibility to BC transit buses
- Shelter at BC transit stops
- Squamish nation art or designs at BC transit stations
- Increase in transit use for cultural/recreational/harvesting purposes
- On demand services added to Ch’iyáḵmesh
What’s coming:
- A frequent 15-minute route between Downtown Squamish and Garibaldi Village
- A new South Squamish route connecting Sp’akw’us Feather Park, Adventure Park, and St’á7mes
