Family Wellness Month – November 8 – 29

Ayás Mén̓men (Child & Family Services) is planning events in November to honour our families, create space for connection, and spend time together in fun and healthy ways. There will be events hosted in North Vancouver (NV) and Squamish Valley (SV).

The Family Wellness Month events acknowledge National Domestic Violence Awareness month and bring community members together.

Family Events

Join us on November 8 at Totem Hall to watch and sing along to Encanto. Enjoy popcorn and soda during the movie. Community members can bring blankets and portable chairs. Pizza will be served at 5 pm.

Time: 2:30 – 6 pm  

Location: Totem Hall 

A short video about youth mental health will be shared at the end of the event.  Transportation is not provided for this event.

Spend a day at the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish on November 9. Community members can arrive anytime during the day. There are beautiful views, walking trails, and a café at the top of the gondola.  

Sign up by November 7 for information about tickets and free parking.

Starting on November 17, community members can request recreation passes for yourself and family members.  

The passes will be for the West Vancouver Community and Aquatic Centre or Brennan Park Recreation Centre. Please note, there’s a limited number of recreation passes available.

In recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness month, we are hosting the Squamish Nation Family Teaching Powwow.  

Community members are invited to join us for family activities, dancing, and to share a meal. Soup and bannock will be served at 11 am. 

There’ll be drumming, singing, a youth craft table, and teachings shared throughout the powwow. A female and male teacher will be available to teach participants powwow dances. The powwow will begin at 12 pm.

Time: 11 am – 3:30 pm 

Location: Chief Joe Mathias Centre

VENDORS: 

Call out for all First Nations vendors for the Squamish Nation Family Teaching Powwow. It cost $30 a table, and vendors must provide a donation toward door prizes. For more information, contact Susanne Paull at  Susanne_Paull@squamish.net. 

NEW DATE for the event.

An x̱em sḵwálwen chet (Our hearts are heavy). During this time of grief and loss across our community, and as the holidays approach, we invite our community members to come together, share a meal, and support one another.  

Date: Wednesday, December 3, 2025 

Time: 12 pm to 2:30 pm
