Council Advisory & Support
Ta na wa Chen̓tm provides administrative support directly to Chair & Nexwsxwníw̓ntm ta Úxwumixw (Council). The department assists in the Council decision-making process, and advocates decisions that are ecologically, socially, culturally, and economically responsible to make life better for all Members. This includes making it easier for Members to find the information and services they’re looking for and give their input into government decisions. The department consists of the Communications & Engagement, Council Administration, Governance & Policy, and Print & Production teams.

Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Name: Ta na wa Chen̓tm
“Ta na wa Chen̓tm” could be interpreted as “The Ones Who Are Leaned On.” This department holds up much of the work for the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) and Nexwsxwníw̓ntm ta Úxwumixw (Council). “Chen̓tm” refers to literally leaning on something to hold you up. “Chen̓chenstem” refers to metaphorically leaning on someone for support.

Services
Communications & Engagement
The Communications & Engagement team leads and provides guidance on all strategic and tactical communications and engagement initiatives of Nexwsxwníw̓ntm ta Úxwumixw (Council) and the Nation Administration.
The Communications & Engagement team oversees general communication to Membership and the public including print materials, website, email, social media, as well as supporting engagement initiatives across departments.
Council Administration
The team provides administrative support directly to Nexwsxwníw̓ntm ta Úxwumixw (Council) and ensures the smooth running of day-to-day activities including Council meetings. The Council Administration team also helps Members to find the information and services they’re looking for.
Governance & Policy
The Governance & Policy team supports Nexwsxwníw̓ntm ta Úxwumixw (Council) members and the wider Ta na wa Chen̓tm team on all governance matters, including policy, process, and reporting.
Print & Production
The Print & Production team is responsible for the design, print, and distribution of materials to on- and off-reserve households. This includes the weekly printed newsletter to North Vancouver and Squamish Valley, as well as other materials requested by departments.
