Since its opening in 2006 on Capilano Reserve, the Youth Centre has supported hundreds of youth!
The Youth Centre is run through Ayás Mén̓men (Child & Family Services) with collaboration from other teams and departments such as Ts’ixwts’ixwnítway (Member Services), Ns7éyx̱nitm ta Snew̓íyelh (Language & Cultural Affairs), Capilano Littlest Ones School, the Elders Centre, and Chief Joe Mathias Centre.
As our Nation has grown, so has participation in Youth Centre programming. We are now at a stage where we are having to run many programs outside of the centre due to lack of capacity. An expansion would mean being able to run all our current programs in the centre and plan for more exciting programs in the future!
We welcome your thoughts and feedback through our survey at the bottom of this page. Survey participants can also enter to win one of nine $25 gift cards!
The Youth Centre is open Monday to Saturday, 2:00 pm – 9:00 pm for youth age 10 to 18. Daily programming includes one hot meal a day, as well as snacks and an option for youth to take food home if needed.
As of February 2023, there are 85 youth who are registered and attend the centre daily; they range from ages 12 to 25.
