Squamish Nation escalates efforts to address CN Rail noise and air pollution at Eslhá7an
Affected members will be asked to submit detailed reports of bothersome activity to the Nation in the near future
In response to ongoing concerns around noise and air pollution related to CN Rail train activity at Eslhá7an, the Squamish Nation is seeking to reconvene a working group comprised of Nation representatives, CN Rail, and all other levels of government to develop strategies to reduce the disruptions to residents of Eslhá7an.
Tomorrow, Council members from the Rights & Title Committee, as well as representatives from the Rights & Title and Planning & Capital Projects departments, will meet with Mayor Buchannan (City of North Vancouver) and CN Rail management to discuss immediate concerns around idling, air quality, and noise pollution, as well as re-establishing a working group to collectively address the concerns raised by Squamish members.
As part of the Nation’s enhanced efforts, we will be reaching out to Eslhá7an residents to request detailed reports of train-related noise and air pollution. These reports will be compiled and delivered to regulatory bodies and policy-makers on behalf of our community.
Stay tuned for more information coming soon regarding the online reporting form and next steps for the Nation’s advocacy work on this important issue impacting our members, their families, and their quality of life.
