May 14, 2022: North Vancouver, BC – The Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) acknowledges a serious incident that took place in X̱wemelch’stn (Capilano Reserve) in the early hours of May 14th. The incident happened on Ikwikws Road and according to West Vancouver Police, a Nation Member was injured. The suspects have been apprehended by law enforcement and there is no further threat to the safety of our Community at this time. As this is an active police investigation, the area around Ikwikws Road will remain closed while police conduct their investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with our injured Member and his family as well as other Nation Members who have been affected by this incident.
