Community Event to Launch New Peer Support Program

The Community Health & Wellness team at Yúustway is hosting an event on April 29 at Xwmélch’sten Field (Capilano Field) to promote its new Peer Support Program! The event will include a drum and walk through the community, a BBQ meal, info presentation, and much more! Bring your drums and enter to win a prize. 

What is peer support? Peer support is emotional and practical support between two people who share a common experience and a peer support person who has the lived skills to assist others. Peer support people may also have training to assist others.

2:00 pm – 2:30 pm: meet at Xwmélch’sten Field (Capilano Field)

2:30 pm – 4:00 pm: drum & walk through the community

4:00 pm – 4:30 pm: meet back at Xwmélch’sten Field

4:30 pm – 5:00 pm: free BBQ 

5:00 pm – 5:30 pm: Peer Support Program info presentation 

5:30 pm – 7:00 pm: slahal

7:00 pm – 7:30 pm: thank you and closing

*If Members have any mobility issues, they can ride a bus that will follow others along the walking route.
