Úxwumixw 2050: Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Generational Plan is being developed by our community as a roadmap to sustainability, self-sufficiency, and improved governance. It is a document that will tell our story, celebrate our people, and look to the future.
Once complete, it will help guide and provide information to current and future leadership and community members to coordinate and prepare for what the future will look like. This will include setting out long-term priorities for all of the Nation’s territory and cover all aspects including culture and language, prosperity as individuals and as a Nation, health and wellbeing, governance, infrastructure and housing, and our lands, water, and air.
The Project Team invites Sḵwx̱wú7mesh artists to create artwork to help illustrate the document. For more information, see the details tab below.
The Project Team is looking for art forms that can be made into an 8.5 x 11 inch cover page. This includes images (drawings, sketches) or physical artwork that can be photographed (carvings, weavings, paintings). The inspiration for the artwork should be your hopes for the next generation.
Artists will be paid $500 per image (drawing, sketch) or $1000 per physical piece (carving, weaving, painting). The selection of artists will take place September 15 and final artwork is due by November 15, 2023.
