External Events and Opportunities for Community Members

We have connected with our partners and local businesses to see if they would join in and celebrate 100 years since Sḵwx̱wú7mesh villages amalgamated in 1923 to become Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw.

We are pleased to share a list of opportunities for community members at several organizations offering free or discounted admission until September 2023 and one offer is valid until 2024. See each organization listed below for full details. 

Opportunities for Members

Grouse Mountain Gondola

Date: July 10 – September 4, 2023

Address: 6400 Nancy Greene Way, North Vancouver, B.C.

Offer: $10 Gondola Pass for Grouse Mountain

Community members can receive a roundtrip gondola pass for Grouse Mountain for $10 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, evenings only (closes at 9:00 pm). This offer is valid from July 10 – September 4, 2023.

When you get there, go to customer service at the bottom of the gondola, and tell them you are with the Squamish Nation. Mention the code word “Amalgamation” to purchase your discounted roundtrip gondola ride pass.

Capilano Suspension Bridge 

Address: 3735 Capilano Road, North Vancouver, B.C. 

Date: September 5 – September 30, 2023 

Free admission to all Nation Members from September 5 – 30, 2023. When you arrive, mention that you are a Squamish Nation Member at the gate to receive free admission to the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

The Hive Rock Climbing

Address: 140-2270 Dollarton Hwy, North Vancouver, B.C.

Date: Free admission on Saturdays and Sundays in September 2023

Code: Amalgamation

Every Saturday and Sunday this September, the Hive would like to welcome Squamish Nation community members to climb for free at any of their locations to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Amalgamation.

Check in at any Hive location (Vancouver and Heights require bookings) and remember to tell staff it’s for the Amalgamation. All experience levels and ages, but please note the following supervision ratios for children: Up to and including age 5: 1:1, Ages 6-8: 1:2, Ages 9-12: 1:4, Ages 13-15: 1:4. Supervisors must be 19 years of age or older.
