DESCRIPTION:Nexw7áýstwaý (Squamish Nation Training and Trades Centre) was established in 2004 to provide quality training and trades programs to the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw. \nNow\, in a collaboration between Sts’its’áp’new̓as (Employment and Future Skills) and Ta na wa Ch’áwat ta Sx̱wéx̱wel (Squamish Valley Operations)\, the Nation wants to hear from Community about what it wants from a future Squamish Valley Training and Trades Centre. \nThe Nation is evaluating the potential of an interim Training and Trades Centre in the Squamish Valley\, which would provide employment skills training to Squamish People\, within the next two to five years \nThe first stage is a feasibility study which will begin with an information gathering and community engagement event on December 1. \nThe Elders Nexw7áýstwaý (Training and Trades Centre) Engagement Event will take place December 1\, from 10:30am to 12pm\, at Sta7mes in Totem Hall\, with lunch provided.   \nProviding skills training within the Community is critical to the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw as there are several large-scale development projects in the early stages in the Squamish Valley. These projects have the potential to provide Squamish People with significant employment in the trades for the next 10-20 years. \nThis work on a potential new Nexw7áýstwaý centre in the Squamish Valley is just beginning . There will be many more opportunities for information sharing and engagement with Community in the coming months.

Hot chocolate and snacks will be served at each stop – plus you’ll have the chance to win exciting prizes as well.
