Land Reclamation Certificate

Sponsored Training – Full tuition for 15 Indigenous Students

With support from the BC Oil and Gas Commission and Secure Energy, 15 Indigenous students of northern BC will be able to access fully funded training that helps them build hands-on skills in land reclamation for work on resource projects in their community and in the natural resource sector as a whole.

Reclamation is essential to achieving sustainability in any natural resource industry project. Today’s industry employers seek skilled workers who have the right knowledge and credentials to conduct, plan, and oversee land reclamation.

The Land Reclamation Certificate uses classroom and field-based training to incorporate knowledge building with skills development so students can establish the skills sought by employers. The Land Reclamation Certificate focuses on reclamation procedures that are applicable to many ongoing projects and industries occurring throughout British Columbia

Traditional Ecological Knowledge Certificate

With support from the BC Oil and Gas Commission, 15 Indigenous students of northern BC will be able to access funded training that helps them build field-related skills in Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), applicable to working in the natural resource sector.

Indigenous Knowledge uses the wisdom, information, and knowledge that has evolved over hundreds of years of living as part of the environment. This certificate demonstrates how to collect traditional knowledge and how to present and report that knowledge.

The Traditional Ecological Knowledge Certificate uses classroom and field-based training to incorporate knowledge building with practical skills development so students can establish the skills sought by employers.
