BC Rail Agreement - Summary of Rights

Summary of Rights Received by the Squamish Nation in the Agreement

  • The ability to co-manage the proposed Squamish Estuary Wildlife Management Area Lands (Please see Parcel No. 1),
  • Receive fee simple ownership of a portion of the conservation area with along with the right to build a Squamish Nation Interpretive Centre (Please see Parcel No. 2),
  • Receive 1/3rd ownership of the land at the deep sea port site (Please see Parcel No. 3),
  • Receive 1/3rd ownership of the deep sea port business (Please see Parcel No. 3),
  • The option to acquire lands currently owned by BC Rail adjacent to IR 18 and make it reserve (Please see Parcel No. 4),
  • The opportunity to have land added to reserve beside IR 24 if the Squamish Nation purchases this land (Please see Parcel No. 5),
  • The opportunity to acquire and develop lands currently owned by BC Rail at Porteau Cove. The Provincial government to support a Federal government application to designate this land as reserve. (Please see Parcel No. 6),
  • The option to acquire and develop lands currently owned by the Province of BC at Porteau Cove. The Provincial government to support a Federal government application to designate this land as reserve. (Please see Parcel No. 7)
