Squamish Nation Go to Court to Challenge the BC Government’s Decision to Approve the Kinder Morgan Project FOR IMMEDIATE

North Vancouver, BC – The Province approved the Kinder Morgan project and the Squamish
Nation is now taking them to court.
The Squamish Nation has filed an application for judicial review in British Columbia Supreme
Court challenging the Province of British Columbia’s decision to approve the Kinder Morgan
heavy oil project. The Nation is asking the Court to quash or set aside the Environmental
Assessment Certificate that the Province issued for the Project on January 10, 2017 based on the
failure to consult the Nation.

Squamish Nation Membership: Canned Salmon distribution

Squamish Nation is pleased to announce a food fish distribution on February 6th, 2017 in the form of canned salmon. The distribution will occur between 10AM and 4PM.
The Nation held frozen sockeye salmon (caught in 2015) in a specialized storage facility with advanced systems for temperature control. Recently, we utilized an established cannery facility to process and package fully inspected salmon suitable for canning.
Recall, this year some salmon stocks were at record low numbers and as result Squamish Nation could not carry out fishing activities for food fish.
