Sna7em Dance Group

History

“Sna7'hm” means the power, strength and energy that emulates from the Thunderbird. The Sna7'hm Dance Group were formed in 2003 and are from the “Skxwe7mesh” Squamish Nation in North Vancouver, BC, ranging in ages from 4 years old o 60+ years old. We enjoy sharing our culture and insight to our history for various cultural presentations, events, ceremonies and gatherings. We are very proud of our “men men”, our children involved in our group, they enjoy singing, dancing and sharing their perspective as you will see, when you catch us at an event. WE take pride in practicing on a weekly basis, brining our family histories to share and research, so we can incorporate the regalia songs, stories and dance steps to our performances.

Some of our presentations for 2003 and 2004 included:

  • Coho Festival, 2003 & 2004 Ambleside, West Vancouver, BC
  • Aboriginal Law Society of Canada Conference Western Bayshore, Vancouver, BC
  • Childrens' Festival 2004, Vanier Park, Vancouver, BC
