Note: If the Squamish Nation does not agree to purchase these lands within 2 years from the date the Agreement is signed, the Provincial Government will still provide support to seek reserve status from the Federal Government for another 1200 acre parcel purchased within the Whistler Corridor.
Parcel No. 7 – Province of BC Lands at Porteau Cove
Description
- Current Parcel Owner: Province of BC
- Parcel of Land: 240 acres
- Location: Porteau Cove, approximately 20 kilometres South of Squamish
After Agreement Signed
What the Squamish Nation Receives on This Parcel: Option to purchase this land if the BC Rail Porteau Lands are purchased PLUS Provincial support to seek reserve status from Federal Government if option exercised to purchase the parcel within 5 years.
Cost to Squamish Nation to Obtain Option Today:
$10.00 – (timber harbesting rights belong to BCR); or
$2,000,000 (timber rights belong to Squamish Nation)
Note: if the Squamish Nation membership decides not to purchase the parcel, the Squamish Nation will still receive $93,000
